Washi paper is the best known paper in the world because one thinks immediately "Japan".
I was bathed from childhood in the world of Japanese Anime, thanks to the Club Dorothée (Saint Seya, Nicki Larson etc), my dad who liked Cobra very much, or the TV programs like on Manga where I ' I was able to discover anime such as Evangelion, Sakura CardCaptor or Blue Exorcist to name a few. And of course Ghibli with Princess Mononoke who is my favorite film with Totoro of course.
All these years, I have dedicated myself to this country, its culture, its aestheticism.
I have always been curious to discover the culture, history or mythology of various countries. First of all, ancient Greece (thanks to Saint Seya), ancient Egypt and northern civilization.
So, Japan did not escape and even more thanks to the aesthetics of the video game "The Legend of Okami".
Based on the legend of Amaterasu:
She is the goddess of the Sun. She was born in the left eye of her father, Izanagi, who ordered her to lead the kingdom of heaven (Takamagahara) and offered her a pearl necklace for her departure.
She created the rice fields, invented the art of weaving and taught people how to grow wheat and raise silkworms.
In rivalry with his brother, Sunasoo. She was offended by his actions: he killed one of their sisters, blew a storm on his flowery garden, skinned a pony.
She decided to hide in a cavern which she carefully closed the entrance with a heavy stone.
Then the evil flourished.
All the gods gathered near the entrance to discuss. They decided to make a big party. The goddess of gaiety began to twirl, which attracted acclamations from the gods gathered there. Curious to hear all her cries, Ama glanced outside. A mirror had been attached to a neighboring tree where it reflected itself without knowing it.
The goddess of Gaiety shouted: "May this day be praised, a new goddess as brilliant as Ama was found."
More and more curious, Ama came out a little more to see what the new goddess could look like. When she came out, she realized too late that it was only her own reflection in the mirror.
Then Tajikarawo, God of the Force, prevented her from going back to the cave and the other gods begged her to stay.
She obtains in part that her brother is banished and chastised.
His descendants would have hard sovereignty Japan. This is why it is considered the ancestor of all Japanese emperors.
I found that this legend reflected many rivalries than in other legends / mythologies. For example, Seth and Osiris in Ancient Egypt, Zeus - Hades - Poseidon in Greek mythology or Odin and Loki in Norse mythology.
The form of wolf is also very interesting in its representation that it is the strength, the intelligence or the determination.
Here is a story or a legend that marked me but one could quote many more.
As a result, after long tatonings, research, and questioning, washi paper returned to me. I practice with the art of Origami the art of folding paper, which requires patience and dexterity. I hope at some point to be able to offer jewelery based on origamis but that is not the end goal. Washi paper is so diverse and varied that you can already offered many things.
Here is a tiny summary of why and a tiny bit of me and my universe.
